Founder Profile

Founder: Mr. Purnedu Mishra, a Post Graduate in Political Science from Delhi University was born in Puri district in Orissa. A versatile  personality. Very popular know as a writer, publisher ard speaker. He was  the proprietor of Mishra printers, Bhubaneswar. As a great lover of children he  established  as N.G.O. named Sishu Mahotsav in 1996 and worked as the secretary of  the organization . He started a nursery school in the name spring Doll School . He was the secretary  of children festival and children ‘s Book Fair. In profession he was liaison  officer in MESCO but his  love for literature has made him  a writer of four short story  books and one book of poetry in Oriya language. When he  involved himself very actively  with lots of social activities. Destiny planned something different for him. He was suffering with Liver Cancer and left his  world  at the age of 40 in the year 1998.

About the organization – Inspired by  Spring  Doll School founder decided to  held a state level competition among the school children and  established an NGO named Sishu Mahostav  and later he made a step forward  to organize a children’s Book Fair. In the year 1996 1^st Children Book Fair  was held at Kasturba Nari Mahal Bhubaneswar and later in the year 1998 after the death of the founder this children Book Fair was given  a new name as Kaling Book Fair and was organized by some women members at a new venue Suchana Bhawan Bhubaneswar. As it was earlier named as  Children Book Fair, Unable to gather  all the publishers and the changed name  Kalinga Book Fair attracted all kinds of publishers  from every level. It run smoothly and successfully for five years at suchana Bhawan Bhubaneswar.

 Organised by some of the literate and multitalented  women of the society the book fair was able to gather a large number of publishers not only from all over the state but also  from all over India.

In 2003 Kalinga Book Fair made a long  jump over the walls and narrow campus of Suchana Bhawan to the open environment  of Exhibition Ground  Bhubaneswar. But after so many successful years this book fair yet has not lost its original value to encourage  the  talented children of the society and work for  their  progress. In 2000 this book fair  started an award ceremony in the name of the  founder as Purnedu Mishra Memorial Award to the  popular names in the Oriya Literature. Besides this  every year about 80-100 students from the age of 4-20 years  have been awarded.

Since last years i.e. from 1995, from a small organization Spring Doll School. We were inspired and some writers, Ministers, teachers and Businessman started a children festival from the 1^st time on 27^th to 29^th  December 1996, at Kasturab Nari Mahal. In the year 1997 the 1^st Children Book Fair was organized at Suchana Bhawan having ten book stall and it was  all possible  because of late Sri Purnedu Mishra, And fur the nest 5 years the book fair continued at Suchana Bhawan and from to book stalls . It was grown upto 50 book stalls at the end of year 2002. In the so was shifted to Unit 3 Exhibition ground with around 100 stalls and was named as Kalinga Book Fair.

In the year 1998 late Sri Purnedu Mishra passed away. Making all of as into deep mourn.  After 1998 a group of Women Started a taking care of organization which was left behind by the founder of organization. And now running very successfully as it was  dreamed  by its founders .
